    Free GPS apps?

Im planning a long road trip sometime in July and wanted to know what free GPS apps are out there. I wouldn't anything that has too much advertising but I know that most free apps usually have advertising to help keep it going. I currently use the Google Maps app and that works pretty well but I wouldn't mind something with turn-by-turn instructions. Thank you in advance guys.

I usually use the Google Maps app ass well. I have not come across any free apps that provide turn-by-turn directions but I did use TelenavGPS for 30days because it was free. I cancelled my subscription before the 30days were up. If I come across anything I will post it here for you.

Yeah, Telenav is a great app but its pretty expensive. I didn't mind taking advantage of those free 30 days though.

But have you tried or checked out Loopt? This is a pretty good GPS app, I find it to be a bit better than Google Maps.

Just keep Google Maps. It may not have turn-by-turn direction but it can show you different aerial views and it can even display the amount of traffic on roads or highways. Its a free app and since it is very popular you can always find help from people online, friends or family should you ever need it. Did i mention its free? oh, its also like super easy to use.

Google Maps is not a bad choice when it comes to long trips, especially if you have someone helping you navigate. I use Navigon, it was a great grass-roots type software with lots of features and has turn-by-turn. I think they were bought out by Garmin.

i would recommend you to use the Google maps apps for they are the best and i have not personally come across on any apps that has turn by turn instructions. If you are using Google maps, you can be sure that they will direct you to wherever you want to go.

I do use Google Maps actually. I like Navigon a lot too, but Google Maps has a really cool feature that tells me how much traffic is on the roads. I avoid traffic jams this way.

I use Navigon myself, it's a pretty good GPS apps considering that most of them don't have Voice turn by turn instructions. However using your phone as a gps requires a GOOD cell phone mount, which I have yet to find.
