New to One X not to HTC but having battery issues with One X

I have been an HTC Inspire user for almost two years. I am used to charging the Inspire and usually charged it twice a day. A price to pay I think for having a smartphone? Last week I traded for the HTC One X. I am having a lot of battery usage. The charge is lasting about 6 hours. I realize with the newer screen the usage would probably go up. I have watched some of the youtube videos on ways to lower your usage to get the battery last longer. The first time I charged the phone it took over 5 hours to charge. Now the charging time is around 2 1/2 hours. Yesterday I charged the phone in the morning but had to charge again in the afternoon and also in the car on the way home. The charge seems to be lasting a little longer today. I am hoping that over time the charging will level out. I think part maybe a result of playing more with the phone since it is new. Once I return to normal usage I am hopeful the battery life will improve. Other then the battery I think this is a fantastic phone. The size, the screen, the clarity, the apps all work very well in this phone. For better or worse I am committed to this phone for the next couple of years. But I do have 30 days in case the battery is a major problem over the next 4 weeks.

I did find one new function in the phone that I really like. When using the keyboard you have to switch to the number screen to enter a number or character. In the one X if you hold the key down the character switches from the letter to the number or character that you need. I like that a lot. I don't remember the Inspire being able to do that.

The battey is doing better today. I charged the phone on the way home and it stayed charged to 74% at 10 pm when I shut if off. This morning I charged it in the car on the way to work. At 11:30 the charge was still at 93% after 4 hours of being on. I tuned off the automatic update to the weather and I have wifi off. It looks like shutting off the auto update on the weather maybe significantly helping to conserve power. I will continue to monitor over the next couple of weeks to see if the power is working better.

When the battery is not the longer the better, after the battery is full of no protection circuit which should stop charging, the battery will affect performance because of fever or overheating
