Recently, some HTC One S smart phone were spotted being sold in Taiwan with a different processor than that of the international version. Upon inquiring about this change, HTC has confirmed that One S with the older-generation 1.7GHz Snapdragon S3 processor is currently up for sale in selected Asia-Pacific regions and European markets. However, it is still not revealed specifically which European markets will be offering the One S with a different processor, but as for the Asian markets, we know that currently Singapore and Hong Kong variants possess the S3 processor. So, why are the 1.5GHz S4 processors of some One S devices swapped with the older 7GHz S3 processors? Well, the increasingly high demand for S4 Qualcomm chip has forced HTC to change the processors of some One S devices.
Now, many users would think 1.7GHz processor would be better off than the 1.5GHz processor. A great number of gigahertz doesn’t actually indicate having more power. As a matter of fact, the next-generation S4 processor is more energy-efficient and powerful compared to its predecessor, the S3 chip. For you to not get confused while buying one of these HTC One S variants packed with different processors, simply check the specs label on the box. The device clocked 1.7GHz means you will be getting S3 chip, where 1.5GHz label will indicate Qualcomm S4 processor.
Would you mind buying the HTC One S with a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S3 processor? Or if you were to buy any, your choice would be the One S with Qualcomm S4 processor?
